A lot of people were reminiscing about the year 2013 in my Facebook feed yesterday. It was great to see all the good things that had happened to everyone. That always gives someone hope for that to continue into the new year, and I pray that 2014 continues to bless everyone and bring us another great year.
For me, 2013 started off with a challenge. I had decided to take 18 credit hours at school in my last term in order to complete on time. It proved to be one of the hardest things I have ever done, but also one of the best. Putting myself into that situation allowed me to learn a lot about myself. It taught me how to deal with stress, how to balance several projects at once, keep track of multiple deadlines… in a way it was preparing me for the real world. I also grew immensely in my art. I was beginning to see my style come together and it was exciting to even begin to think that I could have a style that stood apart.
I really wanted to share what 2013 brought my way with all of you, but I felt a quick status update on my Facebook page just didn’t quite do it justice. I have always been someone who thinks in comic panels so I decided to sketch this comic out yesterday as I reflected on my year. Truth be told, I had an amazing year. God blessed me in more ways than I ever thought He would… And while a lot of good things did happen, it was also important for me to remember my struggles, because those are always what taught me the most. These good things that were happening to me were happening because of all the hard work that went into this year. In the end, it was all worth it.
So, see ya 2013. You treated me well. Here’s to 2014…
